Amanzi Camp
Amanzi is the newer and more scaled-down little sister of Anabezi Camp. Just 2 kilometers downriver on the Ngwenya channel in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park, Amanzi Camp offers a down-to-earth, rustic, and intimate safari experience. Just four spacious tents sit on raised teak decks and are connected by elevated wooden boardwalks. Simple and sweet, each tent has an en-suite bathroom, private deck with gorgeous views over the channel, and a spacious sitting area. Two of the tents are interleading which makes them ideal for families or couples traveling together. Aside from these two tents, the rest are situated about 25 yards apart for guests’ privacy.
The accommodation achieves its rustic and intimate appeal, and while doing so, really focuses on the safari experience. Amanzi offers a range of activities. Game drives, night drives, bush walks, canoeing, boating, fishing, and birding will keep you plenty busy. Because it’s such a small camp, you are guaranteed to have a relaxed and personal experience with both your guide and camp staff.
Being on the river is ideal during the hottest months of September and October because wildlife will flock to the water and provide excellent game viewing. Game viewing is also good from April through August although mornings and evenings can be cold. The camp is closed December through March because of heavier rains in the region.
For those who want a more polished feel, we also really like Amanzi’s sister property, Anabezi.
