What we love about Pioneers Lodge Victoria Falls
Location, location, location! There are a good number of Victoria Falls luxury lodges to choose from, so the question remains, how close (or far) do you want to be from the frenzy of central Livingstone? Located in a quiet suburb, the centrally located Pioneers Lodge strikes a great compromise: ensconced by gardens, it’s private enough to feel like a retreat but only an eight-minute cab ride to most restaurants and shops.
Getting to Pioneers Lodge
Victoria Falls Airport (Zimbabwe) and Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport (formerly Livingstone International Airport; Zambia) are both less than 15 miles from Pioneers Lodge. Your airport transfer to/from the lodge will be arranged and included in your Extraordinary Journeys itinerary.
Pioneers Lodge accommodations
Pioneers Lodge offers 46 spacious King rooms and four Family rooms, all with verandas overlooking the manicured gardens and two swimming pools. Each room is tastefully decorated with clean lines and touches of African art and patterns. Ensuite bathrooms include double vanities and showers.
Family rooms have an annex with twin beds just off the main room and are playfully decorated with kids in mind. Cots can be added to King rooms on request.
Mosquito netting in all rooms is both practical and adds ambiance, and fans and air conditioning will keep you cool.
Pioneers Lodge amenities
The heart of Pioneers Lodge is the centrally located main area. A breezy outdoor restaurant and lounge area is the perfect place to relax and have a cocktail and informal meal. You’ll want to try some craft beer made with water drawn from the Zambezi River. The indoor restaurant offers a scrumptious breakfast buffet, simple lunches, and elegant dinners.
Two swimming pools keep guests cool. And, speaking of cool, the gardens surrounding the pools attract a variety of birds to keep birders entertained. The lodge’s spa offers a variety of services for pampering and relaxation.
For your tech needs, complimentary Wi-Fi and outlets that adapt to most international plugs, as well as USB, will keep you charged and connected.
Every room also offers a coffee and tea station, a safe, and a hairdryer. Nightly turn-down and laundry services are nice touches.
