Twelve Apostles

Twelve Apostles, The Twelve Apostles Hotel is located outside of Cape Town, 15 minutes from the city center. It makes the most of its glorious views over the ocean and the mountains, which can be appreciated from the main rooms, dining area, lounge and verandah.

A variety of classically-decorated room types are available (garden, mountain, or sea facing) and families are accommodated in inter-leading rooms and suites. We do find the décor a little dated, though it is luxurious.

Becuase The Twelve Apostles Hotel is not in Cape Town itself, it isn’t the place for those wanting to be in the thick of things. The hotel shuttle will transfer you into town and the beaches for a taste of Cape Town action – and then it’s back again to the relative quiet of the hotel.

Surrounding the hotel is the Table Mountain National Park, an excellent place for walks along scenic wilderness trails.

Although the property has its merits, it is not a favorite of ours. We find it is missing that special “wow” factor and we don’t like the fact that it is separated from the beach by a major road.

Cape Town is a year-round destination, with September and October being the best months to visit due to the wildflowers and opportunities for whale watching.
