Conservation and luxury go hand in hand in this classic Okavango Delta itinerary
Botswana is the most exclusive safari destination in Africa, and this itinerary explores the Okavango Delta, the jewel in the country’s crown and one of the world’s last great wildernesses.
Once-in-a-lifetime experiences range from sunrise hot air balloon rides and helicopter flights above the meandering channels of the Delta to superlative game viewing both on land and water. This includes some of the highest concentrations of elephant, big cats and endangered wild dog in Africa, and maybe even a black rhino if you’re lucky.

Highlights
- This 10-day fly-in safari begins with a light aircraft flight from Maun to Vumbura Plains Camp, set in a private concession in the Okavango Delta. In addition to day and night drives, boat safaris and mokoro canoe rides, you can take a scenic helicopter transfer to a sunrise hot air balloon ride followed by a champagne breakfast. Late in the afternoon of one of your days at this fabulous camp, arrive to your very own floating bar located in a crystal-clear channel in the Delta
- From here, take a light aircraft transfer to Little Mombo Camp in Moremi Game Reserve, which was established by the BaTawna people to help preserve the region’s wildlife. Mombo is known as the “Place of Plenty” due to the massive concentrations of plains game and predators that live here, including all the big cats. Black and white rhino have been reintroduced and are seen occasionally by a lucky few
- Take a packed breakfast for a morning game drive en route to your onward flight to the ultra-luxurious and environmentally innovative Zarafa Camp in Selinda Game Reserve. From camp, hippos are visible in the nearby lagoon and elephant wander through regularly.
- In addition to game drives and walks, head out for a boat safari to watch hippos, crocodiles, and water adapted mammals along the shore, or stretch your legs on a short walking safari.
